Geographic analytics show you where your visitors are located worldwide. This data helps with international marketing, content localization, and understanding your global audience.

How Location is Determined

Location is determined by:

  1. IP address geolocation
  2. Database matching
  3. Regular database updates

Location accuracy can vary. VPN users, corporate networks, and mobile carriers may show different locations than actual visitor positions.

Viewing Geographic Data

Countries Panel

On the Analytics tab:

  1. Find "Countries" section
  2. View top countries list
  3. See visitor counts and percentages

Country Details

Click any country to see:

  • Total visitors
  • Page views
  • Bounce rate
  • Session duration
  • Top cities (Pro+)

  2. View "Regions" tab

City-Level Analytics

Filtering by Geography

Single Country Filter

  1. Click "Filters" button
  2. Select "Country"
  3. Choose country from list
  4. All data filters to that country

Multiple Countries

Pro Plan

Filter for multiple countries:

  1. Click "Filters"
  2. Select "Countries"
  3. Check multiple countries
  4. View combined data

Exclude Countries

Filter out specific countries:

  1. Click "Filters"
  2. Select "Country"
  3. Click "Exclude"
  4. Select countries to exclude

Geographic Segments

Create Geographic Segment

Scale Plan

Save geographic filters as segments:

  1. Apply geographic filter
  2. Click "Save as Segment"
  3. Name your segment (e.g., "EMEA Region")
  4. Use for future analysis

Time Zone Considerations

Your dashboard shows data in your configured time zone.

Common Geographic Issues

Unusual Locations

Bot traffic: May show from data centers in unusual locations. Enable bot filtering.

VPN users: Show VPN server location, not actual location.

Corporate traffic: Shows corporate network exit point, often headquarters.

Location Not Available

Some visitors show "Unknown" because:

  • New IP ranges not in database
  • IPv6 addresses with poor geolocation
  • Tor exit nodes
