Transfer ownership of your Zenovay organization when you're leaving or want someone else to manage the team.

Understanding Ownership

What Owners Can Do

Only owners can:

  • Transfer ownership
  • Access and manage billing
  • Delete the organization
  • Make another member owner

Before Transferring

Prerequisites

The new owner must:

  • Be a current team member
  • Have Admin role (or will be promoted)
  • Have verified email address
  • Accept the transfer

Checklist

Before transferring ownership:

  • Inform the new owner
  • Ensure they understand responsibilities
  • Update billing information if needed
  • Document important configurations
  • Transfer any external credentials

How to Transfer Ownership

Step 1: Access Transfer Settings

  1. Go to SettingsTeam tab
  2. Scroll to "Ownership"
  3. Click "Transfer Ownership"

Step 2: Select New Owner

  1. Choose from team members
  2. Only Admins shown by default
  3. Can promote member to Admin first

Step 3: Confirm Your Identity

Verify you're the current owner:

  • Enter your password
  • Complete MFA if enabled
  • Confirm action

Step 4: New Owner Accepts

The new owner must accept:

  1. They receive notification email
  2. Log in to Zenovay
  3. Accept ownership transfer
  4. Acknowledge responsibilities

Step 5: Transfer Complete

After acceptance:

  • Ownership transfers immediately
  • You become Admin
  • New owner has full control
  • Billing responsibility transfers

After Transfer

For Previous Owner

Your role changes:

  • Become Admin by default
  • Lose billing access
  • Can request to stay as Viewer
  • Can leave organization

For New Owner

New responsibilities:

  • Billing management
  • Organization decisions
  • Ultimate authority
  • Cannot transfer back immediately

Special Situations

Transferring to Non-Admin

If recipient isn't Admin:

  1. Promote them to Admin first
  2. Then initiate transfer
  3. Or promote during transfer

New Owner Doesn't Accept

If transfer isn't accepted:

  • Transfer expires after 7 days
  • You remain owner
  • Can cancel anytime before acceptance
  • Can resend invitation

Owner Left Company

If owner is unreachable:

  1. Contact Zenovay support
  2. Provide company verification
  3. Emergency transfer process

Billing Issues

Before transferring:

  • Settle any outstanding invoices
  • Update payment method if needed
  • Review subscription status

Revoking Transfer Request

Before Acceptance

Cancel pending transfer:

  1. Go to SettingsTeam tab
  2. Find "Pending Transfer"
  3. Click "Cancel Transfer"
  4. Confirm cancellation

After Acceptance

Once accepted:

  • Cannot undo
  • New owner must transfer back
  • Process takes 24 hours minimum

Security Considerations

Verify Identity

Before transferring:

  • Confirm recipient identity
  • Use secure communication
  • Verify business justification

Document the Transfer

Record:

  • Date of transfer
  • Reason for transfer
  • Both parties' acknowledgment
  • Approval (if required by org)

Post-Transfer Security

After transferring:

  • Review your remaining access
  • Update any personal API keys
  • Check for orphaned resources

Both parties receive emails:

To new owner:

Subject: Ownership Transfer Request

You have been selected to become the owner of
"Acme Analytics" organization on Zenovay.

This will transfer:
• Full organization control
• Billing responsibility
• All administrative capabilities

[Accept Transfer] [Decline]

This request expires in 7 days.

To current owner (after acceptance):

Subject: Ownership Transfer Complete

Ownership of "Acme Analytics" has been
successfully transferred to john@company.com.

Your new role: Admin

You retain access to the organization but
no longer have billing or ownership privileges.

Troubleshooting

Can't Find Transfer Option

If you don't see transfer:

  • Verify you're the owner
  • Check organization settings
  • Refresh the page

Transfer Not Completing

If stuck in pending:

  • Check new owner's email
  • Remind them to accept
  • Check spam folders
  • Resend invitation

Wrong Person Selected

If you selected wrong person:

  • Cancel before they accept
  • Start new transfer
  • Select correct person

Emergency Scenarios

Owner Account Compromised

If you suspect compromise:

  1. Contact Zenovay support immediately
  2. Freeze the organization
  3. Verify all recent changes
  4. Complete secure transfer

Business Acquisition

For company acquisitions:

  1. Work with legal teams
  2. Contact Zenovay enterprise support
  3. Document chain of custody
  4. Formal transfer process
