  • Each visit to the page counts
  • Includes return visits within session

Unique Page Views

Time on Page

How It's Calculated

Time on page = Next page timestamp - Current page timestamp

Limitations:

  • Last page in session may show 0:00
  • Single-page sessions show 0:00
  • Idle time is included

Entry and Exit Pages

Entry Pages

Definition: First page a visitor sees in their session.

Use cases:

  • Identify landing pages
  • Understand entry points
  • Optimize first impressions

Exit Pages

Definition: Last page viewed before leaving the site.

Interpreting exit pages:

  • High exit rate isn't always bad
  • Thank-you pages should have high exits
  • Investigate unexpected exit pages

Entry Rate

Entry Rate = Entries / Page Views × 100

High entry rate = page is often the first page seen.

Exit Rate

Exit Rate = Exits / Page Views × 100

High exit rate = visitors often leave from this page.

Exit vs Bounce

Exit rate includes all sessions; bounce rate is only for single-page sessions where this was the entry page.

Page Bounce Rate

Percentage of visitors who:

  1. Entered the site on this page
  2. Left without viewing another page

Page vs Site Bounce Rate

  • Site bounce rate: Overall single-page session rate
  • Page bounce rate: Specific to visitors entering on that page
